Worldwide Pilot Shortage?

Earlier this month, The LA times reported on the pilot shortage. This appears to becoming a global trend with all the major carriers endeavouring to attract pilots, particularly those with a licence already, to come and fly for them. This is being felt across the globe with airliners parked up across the Middle East and Far East as airlines try and get pilots trained quickly enough.
